What to Expect Initially, you will be asked to complete some information forms. Next, you will have an ultrasound evaluation to assess gestational age. Afterward, Dr. Campbell will sit down with you and discuss the procedure, postoperative care, future contraception, and any questions or concerns you may have. After-hours contact information will be provided. Next, you (and a support person if you wish) will be taken to a treatment room where the procedure will be performed. Pre-operative medication will be given at an appropriate time before the procedure. There will be a brief observation time after the procedure, usually 15-30 minutes, to make sure there is no excessive bleeding or other problems. Overall you can expect to be in our facility a total of 1-3 hours. An antibiotic, a prescription for pain medication, and an injection of Rhogam for Rh negative patients will be provided after the surgery. |
